Brewin Dolphin research head Butcher exits

Brewin Dolphin group head of research Matthew Butcher has left the group after nine years, IFAonline's sister title, Investment Week, understands.

Butcher (pictured) started at Brewin in 2004, responsible for long-only research and alternatives, and in 2008 he was made head of fund research. He oversaw Brewin's fund buy list with the help of the group's 20-strong research team. Earlier this year, Butcher told Investment Week the wealth manager would expand its buy list by 25% as it sought to widen clients' income options. Prior to joining Brewin Dolphin, Butcher was responsible for fund selection within the strategic investment group at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers. Brewin was unavailable for comment.
