Tribunal upholds FCA ban on mortgage broker

A decision by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to ban a mortgage broker for a lack of integrity has been upheld by the Upper Tribunal.

The Tribunal agreed with the FCA's finding that Ghanshyam Batra lacked integrity as evidenced by his submission of a number of mortgage applications containing inaccurate information to two mortgage lenders. The Tribunal's decision was handed down on 13 May after a trial in November last year and following consideration of written submissions made in February and March. In 2007, Mortgage 10 - a mortgage and general insurance broker firm at which Batra was director, controller and approved person - submitted a number of mortgage applications on behalf of Batra in order to seek funding ...
