Network to compel advisers to confirm own income protection cover

Mortgage adviser network Pink Home Loans is to ask intermediaries wishing to join the group to provide proof they have an income protection (IP) policy, or to explain their reasons for not being covered.

The network said it considers IP an essential policy in protecting an adviser's business and livelihood, and queried how one can offer and advise on protection without being covered themselves. Head of Pink network Mark Graves said: "It is inconceivable to me that advisers joining this network haven't taken care of their own financial situation." Pink said it wanted to ensure that anyone joining the network has, as part of their overall business plan, a contingency in place should they be unable to work or earn an income.
