Almost half of those approaching retirement are not aware of a free government service launched to help them understand the pension 'freedoms' announced at last year's Budget, according to a poll of 1,000 people.
Some 47% of respondents, who were all aged over 55, indicated they had not heard of the service, which will be available via The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) and Citizens Advice, the MGM Advantage survey found. Just over one in ten (12%) replied they were fully aware of the new service, while 41% said that, though aware of Pension Wise, they did not know the details.
