Budget could include pension tax reform

Chancellor George Osborne has announced next year's Budget will be presented on 16 March.

Osborne (pictured) announced the date in a debate with MPs in the House of Commons on 1 December. The news comes a week after the Chancellor held his Autumn Statement speech, which avoided tackling previously anticipated pension-related issues. The government has already disclosed it aims to update the industry on its plans around pension taxation in the Budget speech. It launched a consultation on pensions taxation in July but said it will not respond to the work, which closed in September, until spring next year.
