ISA emerging as UK's preferred retirement savings vehicle

While a new survey has suggested the ISA is now emerging as the preferred vehicle for Britons to save for their retirement, separate research suggests as many as seven out of 10 portfolios are mismatched with the risk appetite of the individual investor.

The latest Investor Pulse survey conducted by BlackRock found more than a third of respondents saying they would be relying on their ISA to fund their retirement plans. At the same time, almost two-fifths (38%) of ISA holders only invest in cash despite seven years of ultra-low interest rates. "Savers must be aware that in order to receive an income and have their savings last throughout retirement, they have to make their money work harder to generate a sustainable income," said Tony Stenning, head of retirement for Europe at BlackRock.
