The number of financial advisers reported to the regulator by a whistleblower fell to 170 in 2015/16 from 271 in 2014/15, according to the Financial Conduct Authority's annual report.
Despite this 60% drop in complaints, financial advisers were still the biggest sector in terms of whistleblowing disclosures, with consumer credit and retail banks second and third at 145 and 114 complaints respectively. The report also said that the overall number of intelligence cases containing whistleblower complaints received had fallen from 1,340 last year to 1,014 this year.
