European Commission brings forward PRIIPs delay debate to 9 November

The European Commission (EC) will now discuss whether to delay the introduction of controversial PRIIPs regulation on 9 November, despite announcing the debate would take place on the 22 November earlier this month.

The amendment was revealed in the Commission's latest agenda and follows industry-wide controversy over the fact the previous date for the discussion came just over a month ahead of the current 31 December PRIIPs implementation date. A delay has been widely anticipated by the industry since the European Parliament rejected the regulatory technical standards (RTS) for PRIIPs Key Information Documents (KIDs) at the end of August.
