Pension cold contact is on the rise, according to research by Phoenix Group, which has called on the government to extend its proposal to ban pension cold calling to include all forms of electronic communication.
A survey of 2,002 UK adults conducted in December 2016 found more than a quarter (26%) of UK adults have received calls or been otherwise approached by someone asking if they want to review their pension or release some as cash. The majority of these people - nearly two-thirds - have been contacted in the last six months, the research found. Phoenix conducted an almost identical study in September 2015, and the latest results show a rise of a fifth (22%) in cold calls over the 15 months in between.
