The winners received their awards at a special ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall in London. For the first time, a two-tier judging process was adopted, modelled on the way The Oscars are decided. Funds on the final shortlist were analysed and debated by sector specialists, who ranked them with a commentary on key areas which impressed them about the portfolio managers' skills over the three years to 31 March 2017.
