Financial services has the largest gender pay gap of any profession, at an average of 31%, research has found. Advisers believe the issue is down to a lack of women in management roles and financial advice.

Research from the government pay gap registry found UK financial services had the largest pay gap between male and female employees, with a median of 31%. The median pay gap overall was 10.6%. It gathered the information from 126 companies and public sector organisations that logged median and mean wages and bonuses. Financial services also had the second-largest bonus gap at 36% on a median basis.
