The Protection Distributors Group, set up by advisers two years ago to improve the protection market for consumers, has launched a claims best practice charter for providers.
The ‘PDG Claims Charter' has been launched to improve outcomes for claimants. The charter recommends best practice for insurers by meeting a number of requirements. These include making a dedicated claims team available, with a phone-based process to manage claims supported by digital documentation to efficiently assess claims (paperwork only used where no digital alternatives possible); no potential claimant can be turned away by anyone not on the claims team; claimants to have named point of contact, with regular updates every two weeks and with queries from claimants responded to by t...
