Parents missing work to care for unwell kids - MetLife

Millions of parents are at risk of losing out financially due to childcare duties, according to research from MetLife.

The life company fund more than two-in-five (41%) parents have had to take time off work in the past two years to look after children who have been involved in an accident or are unwell. One-in-four (24%) said this involved an overnight stay, or longer, in hospital. The survey of 1,209 working adults aged over 18 also revealed that one-third (36%) had taken unpaid leave and almost half (44%) had taken days off as holiday, while more than a fifth (22%) said it involved increased costs and expenses.
