Revealed: Mutually beneficial 'joint venture' between two British Steel firms leaves one in liquidation

Pembrokeshire Mortgage Centre, one of the Welsh firms at the centre of the British Steel saga, has entered liquidation, Professional Adviser can reveal.

A Swansea-based voluntary liquidator was appointed on 2 September 2020 to help wind down the firm. In 2017 the firm first pulled out of the pension transfer market after agreeing with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to suspend its permissions. According to documents found on Companies House the firm has just £2,285 to pay any potential creditors. Clarke Willmott, a solicitor firm that has handled hundreds of claims relating to British Steel workers who received poor defined benefit (DB) transfer advice, is acting for 39 individuals who were advised by Pembrokeshire Mortgage Cent...
