'No need' for pension tax relief legislation under LEBC proposal

National workplace pension advisers LEBC has outlined a plan involving two parallel schemes to improve access to pension tax relief.

The group also said calls for the government to introduce legislation that enables lower paid workers to receive tax relief on auto-enrolment pensions are not necessary. LEBC public policy director Kay Ingram said that the scheme, already implemented with a range of employers, can ensure that all members get all the tax relief they are due automatically.    "Those who are lower earners are placed in a scheme which offers relief at source, so their savings have 20% added by the provider, who in turn collects this on their behalf from HMRC.  Higher earners are enrolled in a scheme which...
