Mark Barnett, the manager who had a “torrid few years” but is now at Tellworth, will go “back to basics” on his new fund, which is not allowed to invest in unquoted companies and has strict restrictions on investments that are further down the market spectrum, Investment Week can reveal.
The TM Tellworth UK Income and Growth fund has been in the pipeline since Barnett (pictured) joined Tellworth, which was announced in April last year. At that time, Ryan Hughes, head of active portfolios at AJ Bell, said the move - which followed his departure from Invesco by mutual agreement in 2020 - was an "interesting opportunity" for the manager to rebuild his reputation after"a torrid few years".
