Fewer than half of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) are investing in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) due to scepticism and perceived lack of returns.
HNWIs have an appetite for ESG investments but cynicism and mistrust is preventing most from investing, according to the third edition of the Saltus Wealth Index. Fewer than half (44%) invest in ESG, but there are rising levels of scepticism around the robustness and legitimacy of green and social impact funds. Saltus surveyed more than 1,000 people in the UK with investable assets of £250,000 and found that the majority (80%) do not see climate change as a priority.
