Chancellor Jeremy Hunt is finalising plans to reduce the inheritance tax (IHT) in the highly anticipated Autumn Statement scheduled for next week (22 November), according to The Telegraph.

Prime minister Rishi Sunak and the chancellor are in talks to slash the rate of tax from 40%. The proposal, which has been under discussion for months, is "likely" to be announced next week after increased parliamentary pressure. The potential cut in inheritance tax is expected to be a key highlight of the Autumn Statement.
