Majority seeing growth despite a £35,000 drop in UK household wealth

St. James’s Place (SJP) has found that despite a £35,000 drop in average UK household wealth over the past year, those with a financial plan in place remain confident.

This is according to research conducted for SJP by Opinium, among 6,000 adults between 16 to 25 October 2023. SJP's Financial Health research revealed that over the last 12 months the cost of living crisis has seen household wealth drop 23%, from £147,762 to £113,154, with London (53% drop), Scotland (50% drop) and Wales (13% drop). One in three (30%) are putting less money into savings, or stopping saving altogether, because of the economic climate.
