Advisers are finding ESG research confusing, which has become a barrier to ESG adoption, an Aegon report has found.
Its Advisers Attitudes Report 2024 found the specific issues that advisers face when selecting ESG investments are confusing research (47%), poor performance relative to the broader market (34%), lack of ESG asset classes (30%), lack of information (30%) and restricted product range (28%). Aegon said that considering this, it would expect future reports to show an improvement in the quality and clarity of research and fund-related communications following the introduction of the Sustainability Disclosure Requirements.
