The government has confirmed it will not be paying compensation to women against state pension inequality (Waspi) women, following the findings of a report by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO).
The PHSO's report – published in March – found thousands of WASPI women may have been affected by the Department for Work and Pensions' (DWP) failure to inform them the state pension age had changed. It followed the publication of the first stage of its investigation in July 2021, which showed there had been failings in the way the DWP had communicated the changes to women's state pension age for women born or after 6 April 1950.
