It was really pleasing to see Geraint Thomas - many times the ‘domestique' - win this year's Tour de France. ‘Domestique' is French for ‘servant' and, in cycling, it denotes a team player, a supporter in the background, and Thomas is one who has finally emerged as a solo star.
