If the UK stock market were a fruit, it would undoubtedly be an avocado. It requires a painstakingly long wait, is ripe for about half a day, and then quickly turns bad. Following the 2008/09 financial crisis, the market largely delivered ten years of subpar returns. Then in 2022, it produced relatively exceptional returns, before reverting to subpar performance in 2023.
