The UK stock market drew precious little interest from fund buyers in 2024. Calastone data released in early January confirmed that UK-focused equities suffered the worst net outflows of any major market in 2024, shedding $13.3bn (£10.6bn). However, UK companies still have an allure for some buyers as merger and acquisition (M&A) activity hit new highs. 2024 was an astonishing year for M&A activity.
