As a result of growing emigration, financial advisers are increasingly asked to provide advice for clients who decide to live abroad. In 2006, the UK Office for National Statistics estimated that 207,000 UK citizens had emigrated, including 71,000 citizens emigrating to other EU countries, 49,000 emigrating to Australia and 16,000 emigrating to the US. However, it is not uncommon for clients who emigrate to decide to return to their home country, and thus need new advice as they pursue their repatriation.
