There have been several false dawns for the US economy’s recovery from the 2008-09 recession. Although the recession is officially believed to have ended in June of 2009, the economic experience since then has rarely felt like recovery. Yes, there have been periods of stronger economic activity associated with the various stimulus initiatives, but none managed to result in a self-sustaining upturn in the economy.
