The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has released complaints data for the first half of 2012.
As the top ten list of complaints below shows, there was no surprise at the product which took top spot, and banks certainly had a lot to answer for with the other top gripes. Overall, £3.2bn was paid out in redress as a result of the complaints, with banks paying out £2.9bn and personal investment firms, including financial advisers, paying out £31m. Meanwhile, there was a significant year-on-year bump in the total number of complaints, up from 1,861,715 in H1 2011 to 3,577,599 in the first six months of the year.
