  The much-publicised protection gap in the UK continues to grow, despite the best efforts of both providers and advisers to encourage customers to ensure they have adequate levels of cover in place against the vagaries of life. Our data suggests that Britons sorely need to increase their levels of financial protection: just 39% of people have either life insurance or critical illness cover, while only 8% have both.
