Changes in the hedge fund industry and current market conditions are forcing advisers to guide clients beyond traditional investment

Interest in hedge funds is on the increase, according to research carried out by AXA Sun Life. In the firm's quarterly financial adviser issues survey, 60% of financial advisers said they anticipate that hedge funds, particularly fund of hedge funds, will increase in popularity over the next 12 months. Axa cited increasing investor awareness as a reason and 30% attributed increased interest to market volatility. More than a quarter said increasing investor sophistication was also a reason.
