Few lenders have brought Cat-standard mortgages onto the market, despite the Government heralding them as a fair, clear and easily comprehended alternative. Only Coventry Building Society, Direct Line, Royal Bank of Scotland, Yorkshire Building Society, Hinckley & Rugby Building Society and Egg have launched Cat-standard mortgages, while Cheltenham & Gloucester has dropped the application fee on its flexible mortgage to make it compliant.
