A recent survey conducted on behalf of the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has revealed that most people taking out mortgages do not realise they will get limited help in the form of state benefits if they become unemployed. This survey follows a campaign by the ABI and the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) to encourage the take up of MPPI. The latest figures from the CML (Oct 2000) show there is an increasing trend of people taking out cover to protect themselves.
