PMI providers 'fail customer expectations'

Private medical insurance companies which do not arrange medical treatment on behalf of their customers are failing to meet public expectations, according to research from BCWA.

The survey of 2,275 UK adults reveals nearly two-thirds (61%) would expect their PMI company to arrange any required hospital visit or consultation with a doctor, but BCWA claims in the majority of cases it is the customer who is left to make the necessary arrangements. Of those who would expect treatment to be arranged by their provider, nearly two in 10 (18%) felt the decision would depend on how serious their illness was and a similar figure (19%) thought it would be the case if they had more comprehensive cover.
