Analysis: Tech firms move to .Net but what does it mean?

Back office technology providers 1st Software, Synaptic Systems and Quay Software are all in the process of shifting their technology operations behind the scenes onto a new system of coding which should make it easier to manage software offered.

The latest buzz word in technology development is Microsoft .Net (pronounced ‘dot net’) and companies are keen to promote their move towards this style of software production. That said, the actual advantages of this new technology are likely to go largely unnoticed by the intermediary user except it should help to cut the cost of technology in the long term. This is because Microsoft’s .Net is essentially just the brand name of technology coding which has to be written by technology experts in order to make programmes and software easier to work with and adapt at a later date.
