The third annual joint Association of Investment Companies/IFA Promotion poll of around 200 fund managers and IFAs has found the industry looking generally positive about prospects next year, albeit with some differences.
For example, while fund managers generally see big-cap stocks outperforming, more IFAs favour small-caps, and while equities are seen as doing better than property or bonds, IFAs are not so sure. IFAs have picked emerging markets as the best performing sector next year, compared with Japan, picked by the fund managers. Both, however, have pointed to strong corporate profitability, ongoing mergers and acquisition activity, and monetary control of inflationary pressures as factors pointing to an overall good year ahead.
