IFP research: Multiple adviser operations perform better than sole traders

Multi-adviser or 'ensemble' firms are likely to be more successful in the future than the 'one-man band', suggests comprehensive new research unveiled at yesterday's IFP Forum.

Details of the study, conducted by Advisor Impact - a Canadian consultancy which helps financial advisers to improve their business practice and profitability - sponsored by Clerical Medical and distributed by the IFP and the Association of IFAs, reveals close inspection of an adviser firm’s profitability and business strategy suggests most advisers are not as successful as initially hoped, as several factors indicate firms are either advising unprofitable clients in order to maintain stability or simply not measuring the time spent against the revenue generated.
