EMAG seeks Equitable compensation in Europe - papers 12th Sept

EQUITABLE LIFE policyholders will tomorrow urge the European Parliament's Petitions Committee to intervene in their battle to force the Government to pay compensation, say the Daily Telegraph .

The Equitable Members Action Group (EMAG) will ask the committee to investigate and instigate proceedings against the UK Government over its supervision of Equitable, after the House of Lords ruled in 2000 forced it should pay guaranteed annuitants. Emag claims the Government has denied policyholders' "reasonable demands" for compensation for regulatory failure over more than a decade.
