FTSE boosted by energy stocks

The FTSE 100 is up 32.9 points, or 0.52%, to 6,348.4, as energy stocks move higher following speculation German company E:ON may be looking to the UK for takeover opportunities.

Miners are also performing well this morning, with Kazakhmys topping the leaderboard with a rise of 2.86% to £11.88, closely followed by Xstrata which is up 2% to £26.48, while Rio Tinto has added 1.9% to £29.43. International Power has gained 2.75% to 411.5p, while Scottish & Southern Energy has added 2.25% to £15.93, although gains are being offset by losses from Sainsbury which is down 0.36% to 551p. However Land Securities are the biggest loser with a drop of 0.51% to £21.63, while HBOS has declined 0.48% to £10.39, BSkyB has dropped 0.45% to 559p, and Imperial Tobacco Group has fal...
