Ex-Barclays chief to advise FSA after NRock debacle

The FSA has appointed Naguib Kheraj, a former finance director at Barclays, to help it prevent a future crisis similar to that seen at Northern Rock.

Kheraj will become senior adviser for the Supervisory Enhancement Programme (SEP) and will report directly to Hector Sants, chief executive of the FSA. The SEP was created to implement recommendations made by the internal audit review following the failed handling of Northern Rock. Kheraj will advise on the design and execution of the programme. Kheraj has a long history in the financial services sector having worked as Barclays’ finance director between 2004 and 2007, where he oversaw the proposed merger with ABN Amro and significant investments within the bank.
