Pioneer and Exeter set to join forces

Income protection specialist Pioneer Friendly Society and private medical insurer Exeter Friendly Society are joining forces to form a mutual healthcare insurance firm.

Under the Exeter banner, the firms hope to provide “a comprehensive and unique range of ‘next generation’ healthcare products and services”. The deal is subject to membership and regulatory approval but is scheduled for completion in March next year. Pioneer chief executive, Andy Chapman, says: “The advantage of joining forces with Exeter is that both organisations know each other well. “In fact, the cultural similarities are quite extraordinary.
