OPPOSITION MPs have accused the Government of trotting out a "breathtakingly bland" and "ridiculous" vision of state pension reform yesterday, the Telegraph quotes them as saying.
Alan Johnson, Work and Pensions Secretary, yesterday announced "six principles" on which the Government hopes to base future private and state pensions reform (as highlighted on IFAonline). But David Willetts, the shadow work and pensions secretary, dismissed the statement as a substitute for action, and is quoted as saying: "After eight years of Labour and with the pensions crisis worse than ever, what does the Secretary of State offer us? Another consultation document. You could lay all the Government's consultation documents end to end and still never reach a conclusion." Steve Web...
