The average UK worker has a pension shortfall of around £50,000, according to a study by Datamonitor.
Findings of a report entitled Pension Opportunities in Europe reveal most individuals need an additional £50,000 into their pension fund in order to achieve a comfortable standard of living in retirement, or they face a shortfall of around £4,000 per year in retirement benefits. According to the report, this shortfall is despite the fact the UK already has by far the largest pensions savings market in Europe, and one of the highest levels of pensions savings per head of population. This compares with France, Italy and Spain where consumers make almost no contribution to their pensions...
