House price growth in England and Wales continues to show resilience amongst recent reports of a cooling market and higher interest rates.
Land Registry figures suggest the average house price increased by 16% to £187,971, between the third quarter of 2003 to the similar July-September period this year. The north of England and Wales recorded the highest increases, while south England and Greater London recorded lower price growth. Also contained in the report, the Land Registry found that the volume of sales increased by 6.35% from 290,637 in 2003 to 309,101, while 1230 properties over £1m were sold compared to 876 for the same period in 2003.
