I read with great interest the article in the March edition of this publication by Ben Mountain of Citi Quilter, on the subject of hedge funds and how Mr Mountain felt that this "alternative investment" should form part of a portfolio aimed at retirement planning. I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Mountain that for appropriate clients hedge funds should potentially form part of their investment strategy, depending on where they are in their lifecycle and their attitude to investment risk, but I would not limit the "alternative investment" element of a portfolio necessarily to hedge funds. ...
