The Association of IFAs (AIFA) says proposals tied and multi-tied advisers will have to call themselves ‘restricted' are "lovely".
In a glowing response to today's RDR Consultation Paper, AIFA director general Chris Cummings says of the label: "We love it to bits". AIFA had campaigned hard for a clearer distinction between those it says are on the side of the consumer and those who represent one or more providers. In today's paper, the FSA suggests independent advisers must offer services based on a "comprehensive and fair analysis of the relevant market", adding it must also be "unbiased and unrestricted".
