Tesco expands insurance range with Fortis deal

Tesco has expanded its clout in the insurance market through a deal with financial services firm Fortis.

The partnership will see Tesco setting the price points, marketing and selling household and car insurance products under its own brand. Fortis, which has a majority stake in the joint venture, will underwrite the business and will also be responsible for claims management. More than 1,500 jobs will be created as a result of the deal.
