Morning Markets: Property pushes FTSE lower

The FTSE 100 has opened lower this morning despite three-figure gains on Wall Street overnight.

London's blue chip index was down 6.17 points (0.12%) to 5,159.53 points by 9am. Property is leading much of the decline, following a report from La Salle Investment Management which found for the first time since 2005 London is no longer the best place for commercial property occupiers and investors. Real estate firm Hammerson is leading the losses, 2.3% lower to 400p; while Land Securities Group and British Land have also slipped, dropping 2.06% to 643p and 1.66% to 478p respectively.
