Aviva is looking to expand into the Indonesian market over the next year as its growth decelerates slightly in China.
"We would be keen to do something there in the next 12 months," Simon Machell, chief executive of Aviva Asia Pacific, told Reuters in an interview, referring to Indonesia. Machell says Aviva is still weighing up its options in the region, and whether to gain entry via acquisition, or by building its presence from the ground up as it did in Taiwan. Aviva's presence in China has grown so it is now in over 40 cities, making it the country's second largest foreign insurer.
