Taylor Wimpey lifts house price hopes

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey says it has sold its entire stock of homes for 2009 and will raise prices on houses sold next year.

The company's selling price for private homes has risen 9% from the £163,000 achieved in the first half of the year, it says, adding its sales focus will remain on continuing to increase prices through 2010. It says it is selling the equivalent of just over half a home every week on each of its 317 sites. The weekly rate of 0.56 compares favourably with the 0.4 rate it achieved in the second half of last year.
