The FTSE had climbed significantly by lunchtime after positive results from a number of major companies.
The index is up 1.23% at 5764.45 midway through trading. Top performers included BP up 1.23% at 429.2p, after the under-fire oil giant revealed Q3 profits of $5.5bn, rising 18% from last year and comfortably beating forecasts. Imperial Tobacco Group is also up 3% at £20.57 after it announced adjusted profit before tax of £2.5bn in the year to 30 September, an increase of 10% from 12 months ago. Kazakhmys also rose 3.14% to £13.81 while Tullow Oil is up 3.16% at £12.08. However, Serco is down 4.17% at 562.5p as the company continues to recover from negative publicity over the weeken...
