An increasing number of IFAs are trying to build passive portfolios just using ETFs, which can only be done through wrap platforms, BlackRock says.
The firm says in a recent ETF Landscape report this is one of the reasons why wrap platforms are increasing their share of the UK market, although traditional fund platforms like Skandia, CoFunds and FundsNetwork still dominate. BlackRock cites the Retail Distribution Review as another factor boosting the popularity of wrap platforms, as IFAs are compelled to provide clients with a wide range of products, including ETFs.
